Johns Creek compares to short hills, Parts of montclair, mountain lakes.

For 300K in South Forsyth, Just over the County from JC will get you a nice 4 bed room house in one of the many sub divisions.

Pinecrest Academy (http://www.pinecrestacademy.org/index.php - broken link) is a k4?-12grade Cathloc School, has good reviews.

From JC / SouthForsyth to Duluth will be at most a 30min drive durring rush hour.

Default Baddabing!

Abby
My wife and I moved to Grayson/Lawrenceville area 6 years ago from Monmouth County. I used to work over in Dayton.
Anyways. Number 1 you gotta visit the areas you are thinking about moving to.
I moved my mother-in-law to beautiful Corporate Alpharetta. I was overwhelmed with how beautiful Georgia really is. Is was this exact time of year too. Spring and Fall in GA is the best. All the places the other posters have mentioned are very nice areas.
Keep in mind. Alpharetta, Suwannee, some parts of Duluth are much more expensive housing market compared to where I live east of Duluth. The housing market in my area is near rock bottom prices. Bad for us, great for you. My cousin from Jersey is a Gen. Contractor in Ocean County. Every time he visits he goes crazy on the prices of the 3000 sq ft homes for sale. He says you can't even buy the materials for what these houses are selling for.
I live 20 mins from Discover Mills area. 85 South/Sugarloaf Parkway/120/316 all meet there. You will be amazed at how low your taxes are for such a large house and yard. The County Parks and Youth Sports Parks are tops in the nation. The weather is beautiful for most of the year. It's hotter longer here, but many weeks last year, Jersey was about 10 degrees hotter than we were here. Even now, Jersey is 90's and we're in low 80's. It snows about once a year here. Of course it melts the next day. It gets cold here too. 20's-30's for a week or 2. Believe it or not there is a great bagel place in Duluth/Johns Creek area. It's called Essex Bagels and, yes they are transplants from Essex County. They've been here 20 years. There are many great restaurants over near Duluth. Not as great as you can find in Jersey, but they are very good.
Visit here if ya can for 4 or 5 days. Drive around the areas. Don't automatically settle in Duluth. You will get a more newer house for 50k less further East of Duluth. Great schools over here too. Gwinnett County is tops in the State. We had a chance to move back up to Jersey last year and decided the rat race up there is just not worth it. We miss our life long friends up there but we visit twice a year and when we leave Jersey, we are glad to get back to beautiful Georgia. Any questions, just ask. I was in your shoes 6 years ago, except we moved down here with no jobs lined up. Crazy right? We paid half our house off though with the money we made on our house sale in Jersey.
