^Good point. Tailgating College Games are better than NFL IMO. Love the people setup under the trees pregaming and grilling out.

Why not tailgate in a park instead of in a parking lot. Seems to me that building a new neighborhood park would benefit gameday tailgaters and the community in which the park exists. A neighborhood gets very little use out of a 100 acre parking lot that only holds cars 25 days a year.

This is a great idea. People can just bring their tents and supplies to the green space like they do at most college games. Drop off supplies then go park in a garage a few blocks away.

Perfect idea of the old Dome site. Make it a huge tailgating greenspace that still connects the traditional spots under-the-bridge.

Maybe they will make this area (which is the site of the old dome) available for tailgating.

Both Sanford Stadium in Athens and Bobby Dodd at Tech are excellent examples of this. People do their tailgating elsewhere and then simply walk (gasp) to the stadium.

The Falcons would be well served to take a few pages from the college playbooks.

People park intown, in decks, small surface lots, hotels and in remote locations. Many also take transit. There are no oceanic asphalt lots surrounding these stadiums -- they're simply not needed.

That's not the same. The stadiums on these college campuses have been there for 100 years or more. As the colleges grew, the stadiums grew with them, infusing themselves into the fabric of the campuses.

Pro stadiums are usually plopped down out in the suburbs surrounded by parking lots or in downtrodden inner-city areas, so you can't really expect the same result.

I don't see why you couldn't start out with the same approach.

The designers would have to get out of their office and do the legwork. Walk the streets, get to know the people and understand their vision of community. Design with the idea of, as you put it, infusing yourself into the fabric of the community rather than dropping a bomb on it.

I daresay that for most Atlantans the notion of a gigantic steel-and-plastic pinwheel being dropped into the middle of their neighborhood would be as alien as a spaceship.

"the pinwheel"— that's perfect!

Now you want to change your argument from the dome not being a good place to tailgate to being impressed? LOL, You GT people are good at academics but really struggle in the social part of life.
