How are you defining middle class? About 90% of Americans will self identify as middle class if asked. I think you will find middle class people throughout the metro with a few obivious exception on both the high and low sides. What are you trying to get at with this thread?

This is a metro of 5.5 million people - the "middle class" exists to some level in every city or suburb

Medium household income in Atlanta is $45k (2006-2010). Other areas of the metro are much higher, for instance Alpharetta is $90,000.

But the answers you get are all over the place because of perception -- Some feel the $45k is barely getting by and that $100,000+ is a true middle class.

'middle class' is all related to how much you make, how many people you support, how much credit you take on, and how much you spend day to day

You can make $36K/year, drive a $36K car and live in a $200K house, but I wouldn't recommend it.

You can be married, making $50K/year, with 2 kids, buy a $130K house and get foreclosed on.

Actually the only thing "middle class" means is that you fall within the middle 20% of income earners.

But to answer the OP's question, there's a little site called City-Data that has what you're looking for:

If you're wondering where they live, that would be pretty much everywhere that isn't full of either $1 million estates or drug houses.

Go to Zillow and search for a "middle class" price range on 3-4 bedroom houses and that might give you an idea. Any giant holes you see are probably one of the two exceptions above. That's a very general question you're asking and I don't think you're going to get a satisfactory answer.
