Once the WalMart is completed it will be a complete game changer for the area and start to attract more retail and residential development and people to the area...I have lived here since 2007 and I enjoy living in the area and how close it is to everything...With the AUC here people will always be attracted to the area...It has tons of potential and with development set to also begin on the Old University Homes on Fair Street as well. With gas prices sky high it's going to just get better and I think people will start to give this area a close look.

Well obviously you must be on crack with your poor judgement skills to live there sitting on your balcony throwing house parties everyday after you get off work at your job at Family Dollar. Its obviously you got your education from a mail order website after you finished downloading porn.......lol

You would want to invest in an area that is surrounded by "hellholes?" I doubt many smart investors are flocking to dump money into an island in a sea of poverty and crime.

You mean like Wal-Mart?Or you mean the A,U.C. which are growing and expanding much like the area around Howard University in D.C. has today?New apartments and condo's?They maynot be flocking yet but there are "Smart" investors

The AUC is growing? Last I checked Morehouse continues operate in a near fiscal crisis, CAU has stagnant enrollment and Morris Brown went belly-up.

I'm sure whoever built those townhomes on MLK and Lowery is thrilled with their "smart decision." They really add an ambiance of "why try reviatlizing this area" sitting their half completed for the past 3+ years.

Maybe some of y'all aren't urban pioneers, explains why you live in your fake, Stepford suburbs, but others are willing to take a chance and make a profit in an area that is on the verge of becoming the next intown neighborhood. Someone had to take a chance on moving Candler Park, Inman Park, and Virginia-Highlands when those neighborhoods were less than desirable. And it paid off, those neighborhoods have homes that are worth more than any 5 bedroom house in the suburbs. Don't bash someone because they are investing in an area that has potential.

But honestly, that area sucks. If you ever wonder where you tax dollars go, drive up and down Lowery and count the number of people sitting on porches not doing anything but leaching off hard working Americans. I can't recall the exact ranking, but that area was in the top 10 most dangerous zip codes in the country. To the people who choose to live there: I assume you are comfortable not working to improve your situation and getting out of that area or you have horrendous judgement and actually choose to live there. Either way, the area is still awful.
Wanted to say that I drive up and down Lowery every day and you see more people walking than sitting on porchers. There is a small park near the Ashby Marta station where people hang out, but it's a park and that's what people do at parks.

Also you forget the saying about people who assume....you should remember. I live in the area and I have very good judgement. I am not stretched beyond my means by trying to impress the Joneses. I am not stuck in traffic for an hour a day. I have easy access to every corner of the metro area being that I am centrally located. I, like afonega, have never had a break-in and I have lived in my house for 5 years. I have never had a car break-in either or any sort of crimes occuring at all and I don't worry about that sort of things. I have nice, older, quiet neighbors so don't worry about loud shenanigans.

Wanted to mention that my specific zip code was not included in the most dangerous (I live in 30318). But my job's zip code was in that top 10 list - 30303 - Downtown Atlanta, so I guess no one should ever go downtown either or they have poor judgement.

Also wanted to mention that I am an alumni of CAU and as such I know for a fact that CAU has grown and is still growing. CAU is the largest HBCU in the country and is in fine financial shpae. They have a decent endowment and a beautiful campus and since I originally went in the late 90s the rate of retention of students and graduation rates have increased, as have the amount of new construction and improvements on campus.

No, it isn't. Florida A&M is the largest HBCU in the USA. CAU is not even in the top 10. The AUC could crack the top 10 though.

Their financial shape is pretty rough as well due to the economy.

This shows a steady downward trend in enrollment between 2005 and 2010. : http://www.cau.edu/CMFiles/Docs/2005...k%20011312.pdf

Beautiful campus. I've seen worse, so I'll give you that. Just don't walk off campus.

You are very quick to point out others errors or mistatement but dont have the decency when you have been proven wrong acknowledgement it and admit it.
However you are real good at changing the subject.
