Hello all. I just found out my fiance got a job at GSU and we will be moving to Atlanta likely around mid-June from Indianapolis. I've read a lot of threads here about places to live, and I'm officially...overwhelmed. We're looking to rent a townhouse or house (we have a dog that barks at almost every noise, making an apartment/condo a bad idea probably) in a safe neighborhood somewhat close to the GSU campus (30-40 minute max commute preferred) for around $1100-1200 a month (preferably a bit lower?) From what I've read, I'm not sure this exists, but I figured I'd give it a shot. FYI we're both mid-20s and more the stay-at-home type, so not really concerned about being around nightlife or anything. We're mostly just concerned with finding something decent, in our price range, that is safe and not too far of a drive to GSU (during rush hour), if that's possible.

1. Budget
$1000-1200/mth to rent
2. House/Condo/Townhome?
House or Townhome
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home)
Will be driving to GSU daily
4. Children(public school vs. private)
No kids, schools not a concern
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two
Open to about anything...
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not?
Not very important
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood.
As long as it's safe, we don't care how old they are or what they look like!

Thanks for any help you guys can give us!

Check out the 30033 zip code. There are a couple of 3 bedroom houses available at $1,200/mo. right now on FMLS. One is on Homewood Court and the other is on Wood Trail Lane. This is a nice part of town near Emory University and the City of Decatur (although not in the City of Decatur limits). It's generally a 15-20 minute drive to GSU (although could easily be 30 during rush hour). It's definitely a suburban area (car necessary) but it's not too far from the hipper (more expensive) intown neighborhoods, so you'll have a short drive to lots of cool stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion I'll look more closely at that area!
