Lol no, it isn't. I go to the gym every day of the week and keep two towels in my gym bag. People are just so lazy these days smh.

LA Fitness seems to run more specials to get people in the door. i joined la fitness when i moved to atl i pay 45 a month no initiation for nationwide access to all la fitnesses (minus NYC).

its a basic big box gym. the price point pretty much allows everyone to join. i don't use the pools or hot tubs so i can't speak for that but if you're ITP expect every la fitness to be packed from 4-7pm (primetime for afterwork gym goers) mornings and weekends isn't bad at all... I've worked out at brookhaven, buckhead, north druid hills, cobb pkwy, and midtown... all the gyms are pretty much the same with the same equip and there's always staff around cleaning the equipment which is a plus, worst case there's plenty of wipes and paper towels to wipe down equipment... la fitness does have a lot of cardio equipment so usually waits aren't that bad... the locker rooms in la fitness could be improved (smell, cleaned more often) but i don't shower at the gym either im usually just in and out..

No experience with LA Fitness, but I did use Lifetime Fitness a few times in Texas. That place was like a resort! Its things like the towel service that give it that overall feel. If I were in to swimming, I would want it.

For now, it's $19 a month gyms for me.

So yes, I have nothing valuable to add to this conversation

One way I deal with this type of the situation is: compare what you lose vs. the savings.

For example, assuming you pay 50 for Lifetime and 30 for LA Fitness, does $20 make up the towel service? To me, my answer is yes but I am not sure about you.

As a long-time LA Fitness member, I am glad about the new Brookhaven facilities. It can get crowed sometime, (i.e. 6:00-7:00pm), but the brand new imagine is good enough for me. It provides everything you want minus the towel service.

Try Fitness 19 on Sugarloaf in Lawrenceville. Great gym, great price ($12/mo for me).

I joined LA Fitness.

I paid a $199 initiation fee and am at $19.99 per month. Lifetime Fitness was $70. I figure even if I am only a member for 4 months, I will make up the difference in the initiation fee.

I will miss towel service, the awesome hot tubs, and the leisure pool. But it's just not worth $50 a month.

My local LA Fitness has a pool and hot tub. I guess some do and some don't?

I think he is referring to the wet sauna at Lifetime Fitness. And hot tub with waterfall. They are both very good.

I think all suburban LA Fitness have pool, hot tub, and dry sauna.

Yeah, LA Fitness has a little hot tub like you would expect a pool at a condo at the beach to have.

Lifetime has dual hot tubs with waterfalls, and both are huge. Lifetime also has 2 indoor pools: a dedicated lap pool, and then another large indoor pool for aquatic classes and leisure swimming, but it also has overflow lanes for if the lap pool is full and lap swimming takes priority over leisure swimming.

There's no doubt Lifetime is a better club. I wouldn't even mind paying double to go there. I just can't justify paying 3 and half times the price. It's not THAT much better. At least, it doesn't seem so to me. I'll revisit this thread if in a couple of months I run away from LA back to Lifetime screaming, "It really IS three and a half times better!"

Atl, lifetime membership is like what real estate home prices in Johns creek and s forsyth will look like in the years ahead. 5 years ago the membership was 50/month. Today it is 70/month. I wouldnt be surprised if it goes up to 80 sometime next year. The ones who got lifetime membership in 07 are grandfathered in. This is why they call it lifetime.

Soon you will no longer be able to break in lambert under $200k
