Default 35 single Latina relocating

Hello all,
I am relocating to GA in the next 30-60 days and would appreciate information on rentals in areas near the marta that are good to live in that are safe for a single woman. All information is helpful.
Thanks

PS: I have visited Marrietta, college park and douglasville in the past two months but the area i was in were not near MARTA.
Thanks

Have you looked in Buckhead, Decatur, midtown or around Atlantic Station? It depends on your budget, but those areas are all on public transportation.

I would say that if you are on a budget, you will find no place better than Tucker. Several marta buses run through the area and it is quite safe. There is a fair amount of apartment options in the Lavista, Northlake, Lawrenceville Highway, Chamblee Tucker area. If you are not on a budget, then I would agree that you may want to look closer in, depending on where your job will be. Renting isn't all that expensive in the city compared to some of the other major u.s. cities.

Thanks for the information. I am moving from NY/NJ where the transportation system is much different. So untill I get a car, I would need to be near the Marta . I dont have a job yet but will look into those places you guys indicated. I would like to stay around 900 or less. less is better for now,

Do you know if most of the apartmetn include water iin the rent or is that a separate bill?

once again thanks for all your help.

I think most people include....in the ones that don't the bill shouldn't be more than $30 on the high side IMO.

First, look here:
MARTA - Map Viewer (broken link)
Note that while there are bus routes all over, there are also large areas between the routes which have no service at all. Meaning you might have to walk (as I used to) a mile or more to get to the nearest bus line. That's ok when the weather is nice, but not fun when it's 100 degrees out, or freezing rain, sleet and snow.

You'll want to consider where you're working as well. Best situation would be if both home and work are on a rail line. Second best would be 1 bus ride plus a transfer to rail. More than that (bus/rail/bus) is pretty much un-workable, due to the schedules.

The biggest problem I had without a car wasn't getting to work - it was grocery shopping.
If you aren't within walking distance of a grocery, your other options are calling a cab or standing in the hot sun waiting for a bus while your ice cream drips onto the pavement.
Going out to eat isn't all that practical, either, as the buses run infrequently or not at all after normal working hours. Got to consider that if you need to work a lot of overtime, as well.

College Park actually does have a MARTA train station...

The map is a great way to locate some areas that are convenient to MARTA.

Thank you all. I have been looking and actually have a few things lined up for next week as for interviews so that will also determine my home location. I will get a car as soon as i get there for i see like Nj you need it to get around.
once again thanks for all the helpful advice.

Oh, BTW, when you get here, buy a MARTA pass. That way you'll feel free to explore as much as you want.
