The CDC makes sense and the Clifton corridor rail would help boost the area by offering alternative transportation. The GSU diplomatic area is a much better idea than Buckhead village becoming home to a concentration of consulates.

Does this guy not think that Clifton Road is already busy enough?

Why not just suggest "the connector" or "top end perimeter"?

I don't get this guy's thinking. The Emory/CDC makes sense but I thought it was trending that way anyway.

I don't see 316 as an IT corridor anchored by...Caterpillar? UGA is not a paragon of IT. I don't see it happening unless it becomes a corridor of data centers. Norcross was supposed to be our Silicon Valley but it never really took off.

I have my doubts about the promise of nanotechnology. It will probably be mostly a sink-hole for research dollars. Lots of research but few products.

And isn't the former Fort Mac supposed to become a bio-tech hub? That area doesn't look to be a magnet for industries unless the surrounding area is greatly transformed.

I don't think Atlanta has had much success in having a leading center or corridor for a particular industry. Georgia Tech and Emory should be invaluable to spearhead such an effort but nothing really significant has resulted.

Well, I think Atlanta would be wise to have hot corridors or hot clusters. There should be heavy concentrations, but keeping with Atlanta's multi-nodal nature, we don't have to limit each industry to just one area (but we shouldn't have too many per industry either). The concentration is what is important.

Hot Corridors and Hot Clusters:

Medicine/Health
1. Glenridge Center (new name)
2. Emory Corridor
3. North Downtown
4. South Buckhead

Technology
1. I-285/US 78/I-85/GA 316/Peachtree Pkwy Corridor {Technology Grove}
2. Alpharetta/Roswell Corridor (4 exits) {Technology Ridge or
Technology Crest}
3. Along Spring Street between North and 10th {Technology Square}
4. Along Spring Street between 10th and Brookwood Split {Technology Village}

Financial/Banking
1. North Downtown
2. Atlantic Station
3. Buckhead/Lenox

International
~From the Capitol arching+stretching west/northwest towards Olympic Park and Luckie Marietta (and a little beyond).

Film/TV
1. Lakewood
2. Greenbriar
3. Semi-rural/suburban studios in the South Metro Counties (Coweta, Clayton, Henry, Fayette, Rockdale, Newton, and Douglas)

Military
~USAFRICOM relocates their headquarters to Atlanta.
1. Fort McPherson
2. Fort Gillem
3. Dobbins
4. With auxiliary training centers built in Rockdale and Douglas counties.

As Atlanta is emerging as a (pretty soon the) music production capital, I imagine music studios concentratrated throughout the metro area.
