COBB & FORSYTH fastest growing counties in GA
Interested in moving to Georgia. Do consider FORSYTH & COBB COUNTIES.
2 of the fastest growing counties:
(#1) COBB - For many years, Cobb County has been the center of hate group activity in the Metropolitan Atlanta area.
From 1980 to 1984, Marietta was headquarters for Ed Fields'
New Order Knights of the KKK, which maintained klaverns in Marietta
and Kennesaw. In the early 1980s, the Invisible Empire Knights of the
Ku Klux Klan had at least two of its twenty-five Georgia klaverns in
Cobb County. The Cobb klaverns were in Marietta and Kennesaw. These
were the only towns in Georgia known to support klaverns of two
different klan factions.
During the past five years, most of the nazi skinhead
organizations in the Atlanta area have been based in Cobb County,
including the National Socialist Youth of Georgia, Georgia National
Socialist Alliance, SS of America, Aryan Resistance League,
Hammerskins, Aryan National Front, Atlanta area Confederate
Hammerskins, and White Women's Association. The Georgia organizer for
the Tennessee-based Christian Guard also resides in Cobb.
Holocaust Revisionism (a pseudo scholarly movement that denies
the reality of the nazi extermination of European Jews) in the Atlanta
area is headquartered in Cobb County. Marietta attorney Sam Dickson's
Atlanta Committee for Historical Review sponsors visits by European
Holocaust Revisionists and hate group members.
(#2) FORSYTH COUNTY - covered on OPRAH'S SHOW...
An All-White County? .
Oprah: Tell me, where did the people come from who were shouting '****** go home?'
Frank Shirley (head of the Committee to Keep Forsyth White): This was the largest white people's protest against communism and race mixing in the last 30 years. The news media has deliberately covered up the nature of the brotherhood marchers, many of whom are outright communists, are homosexuals, and our organization was the only one that dared take a stand against them.
Oprah: This is what I'd like to know, let me just ask you this: How do you know that they were communists and/or homosexuals?
Frank Shirley: Because they openly carried banners for the Workers World Party and the Revolutionary Communist Party, and various gay groups, and I don't think that's the kind of outfits that the white people of this county want to see in their community.
Oprah: You're not just anti-black, you're also anti-gay, too.
Frank Shirley: I'm opposed to communism, race mixing and low morals, and homosexuals are of low morals, in my opinion.
Town resident: I agree with what he says.
Oprah: You agree that people who were parti****ting in the march were communists and homosexuals and not just marching for brotherhood and expressing their feelings that black people should have the right to live in this town? You don't believe that at all?
Town resident: No. I think they were just here to cause trouble, because we've lived here like this for years, why do they all of a sudden come in here?
Oprah: You don't believe that people of other races have the right to live here?
Town resident: They have the right to live wherever they want to, but we have the right to choose if we want a white community also. That's why we moved here.
Fueling Fear
Town resident #2: I was one of those marchers š because I felt it was important for Forsyth Countians to be there and to make it clear that we welcomed all law-abiding people to our community, whatever their color.
Oprah: Did you not feel some sense of fear or intimidation, because we've talked to people who didn't even want to be here today on camera, saying that they parti****ted in the march or they have amicable feelings toward black people, because, they say, 'My house will be burned, I'll be harassed, I'll get letters in the mail, I'll get phone calls.'
Town resident #2: I have heard that 'Your house will be burned' nonsense for years. I think it's a myth that is being perpetuated that is keeping fear going. I simply refuse to live in fear.
Town resident #3: I think a lot of people react to fear, and I think that's one reason that the black people have stayed out of Forsyth County. It's been fear on both sides, and I think a lot of people are afraid of what they don't understand.

Cities In Cobb & Forsyth Counties Discussed In My Last Thread.
Do read my other thread, and please know where you are heading.
Cobb County includes the cities of Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw, Marietta, Powder Springs and Smyrna.
Forsyth County includes the city of Cumming.
These two & many more counties up north have a long history and a past only Georgians can be proud of. Remember some of the latest actions/public activities are as late as 1998.

Pray for the Ignorant
Wow, in this day and age people like that still exist? Its like caveman logic. The United States is too huge and mixed for seperatist groups who usually don't venture outside of where they were born unfortunately. I hope that people of all different races and nationalities increased the growth in those communities so that the ignorance will eventually subside.
Remember racism has traditionally been used in this country to keep poor people fighting against one another, so the rich folks can get away with ripping us all off.
Think about it.

Yeah there is real redneck attitude in these counties. Kennesaw even has a law on the books that says every home owner must own a gun. I don't think they really do much to enforce the law, but the fact they have it is a little scary.
To be fare, these counties are very large and the people with these attitudes are likely a small minority of the population. Most people who live there are just normal people trying to live a normal life.

Is North Georgia is full of the KKK?????
I came across this forum---noticed that everyone is pushing for people to move to Cobb and Forsyth counties---yes, the counties are said to be one of the fastest growing---but the article that was posted says a lot!!!!!!!
I am moving out of So. FL away from the traffic/hurricanes/high real estate.
I am looking at Geogia's new fastest growing county---Henry. Although Henry County is Southeast of Atlanta....It is far away from the city----crime etc....

OMG...this is the most ridiculous thing I've seen posted on this forum. This is not at all what it is like in Forsyth and Cobb or any area bordering ATL. Look at the date (1980-84) that’s 22 years ago people!!!! If you look at the growth over the last 5 years Cobb and Forsyth are almost unrecognizable, let alone 20+ years ago. The areas are growing fast (people are moving in not out) they have some of the best schools in Georgia and are considered some of the premier areas to live in outside of Atlanta. Please don't take someone’s rant as the truth. If you plan to move here, spend some money, take trip and look around for a few days. I guarantee this is not what it is like living here. Of course you can always search out one idiot that shares these opinions, but I can find one of those in any city.

In part, I agree. There are going to be less of the old Forsyth County types. At the same time, my parents moved into their suburban home 30 years ago and they have some of the same neighbors who disapproved of us (an African American family) living in that neighborhood. And this is in California!!
That said, 22 years ago my wife and I were on the receiving end of some pretty bigoted comments and treatment for no other reason than us being interracial--again, in turbo-liberal, bleeding-heart California. Those igonrant people haven't died off or moved to other countries; they're in their 40's and still in infuential positions of showing real estate, lending mortgage money and teaching in schools.
So although times have changed in many ways (a good thing), it might not be wise to automatically assume that times (and people) are completely different.

understood and appreciated. My problem with the initial post on this thread is the impression it gives people.
"Is North Georgia is full of the KKK?????"
This is the title from someone that read that post. I understand that bigoted people still exist, but while I need to be careful when I minimize their existance, others need to be careful of the false impression they give in maximizing a problem.

These two counties are pretty conservative so they might have more bigots then your typical county but most of the new residents are like those of the rest of Atlanta, transplants. If they are bigots and KKK its not because we are in the south but because those people came from other places.
Also flmom2kids, I'm a little worried that you think Henry county is far away from the city and crime. Both Forest Park and Morrow which have a lot of crime problems border Henry county, and some pretty rough parts of Dekalb county border Henry county on the north side. Sure you can get away from the crime problems by moving far out in Henry county but crime is moving south and the schools in Henry county aren't very good.
