Box your right. Mixed income is the answer to not having crime ridden low income areas, but most middle and upper class do not wanna live near low income people. Kirkwood is very diverse socially, economically, and racially. Don't know if it will stay that way, I hope it does.

If it's the low imcome people who don't commit crimes and scare passerbyers then sure. Honestly, if you live next to someone and not know their income based on all the housing being nice and still not deal with thugs hanging around or crime then it doesn't really matter.

I live next to low income people, but there aren't any thugs hanging around. They just work minimal wage jobs. The issue arises in that they are less likely to keep up with the house and yard. Its a sore spot on a relatively nice street.

So when something as ridiculous as how many white people live in an area being a measure of how gentrified a neighborhood is, you are all over it, but anytime race is ever brought up in other threads, people are instantly racist for talking about things that have nothing to do with race.

Hmmmm.......

Let's get this straight right here, right now: Does the number of white people who live in an area indicate how nice or gentrified the neighborhood is?

If so, then you can have this one.....but there are a million arguments that a million people on this board are about to lose.

Damn, after reading the article it is not wonder race was brought up. WTF?

Genterification has nothing to do with race. It's all about income levels and prices.

It's not really about shifting the race demographics, but more along the lines of shifting the class demographics.

Never said it did. I just offered the article as good news for an intown Atlanta neighborhood to be 11th. So what I happen to be a homeowners in the zip code. Y'all some haters. I asked the same question about race having to do with gentrification too.

If race indicates gentrification, then congratulations on living in a gentrifying area!

If it doesn't, then the metric is completely meaningless and there is nothing to say you are more gentrified than anything else.

Stop putting words in my mouth. I just thought it deserved attention, sorry its not as exciting as crime in Atlanta. If you continue reading the author states its not about race.
