I'm thinking of relocating to Atlanta, so I'm keeping an out out in the news for info about the city and I saw this today. However, while some people might be turned off by this, I'm from Michigan and my beloved home state holds it down with both the 1st and 2nd most dangerous spots; Detroit and Flint. So, given that I spent the majority of my 20s in the D, and given that Atlanta is all the way down at #8, I'm fairly certain it will seem like Disneyland by comparison. At any rate, here's the report:

The Most Dangerous Cities in America - 24/7 Wall St.

Detroit's Homicide Rate Expected To Jump 15% For 2011

As stated several times we have tons of crime related threads. Stop posting the same stuff over and over

Detroit had 346 murders last year. We had 87 murders for the year. Stop posting these garbage articles in our forum. Research facts instead of using google. The crime in Detroit is the same as crime in Iraq.

I am assuming this is referring to the City of Atlanta and not the Atlanta Metro Area. Note that the City is only a population of 420,000 vs. a Metro area of 5.5 Million (less than 1/10th)

Most people moving to "Atlanta" are not going to be living in the City and and major crime centers.

This is very different than Detroit where the City population is closer to 730,000 and a Metro area I believe of 3.7 million (about 1/4th)

This. And intown areas like Buckhead, Virginia Highland, Inman Park, etc. are essentially crime free.

Chicago has more murders than any city in the country and isn't on the list. I really don't put much stock in these things.

So you saying that Atlanta is the only place in the metro with major crime centers? What about all the murders in Gwinnett County this year?
Noticed that majority of the cities are in the South. And why do people still live in Detroit and Flint. How do you patrol a city of Flint's size with 120 officers?

This really isn't news though, Atlanta has a very large black population so crime & danger should be expected. Glad to know Atlanta is not in the top 3 though, that's a good thing.

That is the most disrespectful statement, I don't car if you are black. Your no different than a ignorant redneck.

"We have found the enemy - It's us..."
Truth is painful sometimes my friend. I am sure FlyiMetro did not mean any disrespect. It's just a reality.

No that is not what I said. Every city has their major crimes. But I am making the assumption there are certain major crime centers in the City of Atlanta that greatly contribute to the overall statistics for the City of Atlanta and that is still a smaller percentage of Atlanta Metro.
