I like your question...really makes you dream about where/what you really want to be doing or where you want to go.

If I lost my job tomorrow...I'd apply for unemployment asap, can't afford to get to far behind on current bills. But...I'd seek employment in another state. I'm tired of Missouri's hot summers and I just survived the Joplin tornado...so I could do without those too.

I might move to North Dakota to start because I have friends there and the economy is booming. I really want to move to Alaska..requires lots of savings and planning.

Great question!!! Gets me dreaming!!!

I hear ND is doing really great right now. But I don't know if that's some place I could live. It's gorgeous but I'd be bored out of my skull lol.

I'd say a lot would depend on one's housing situation- if you rent, it'd be far easier to pack up and head elsewhere somewhat quickly, vs if you own and can't sell your house for what you owe. You may "want" to look for a job elsewhere, but may not be able to.

Stay put, like the other hard core ATL'ers.

More room for us after the fairweather folks hit the road!

I am always up for the possibilities of something new but if this question is given with the thought of where to find the best opportunity (not because you want to move to Hawaii) I would bet on Atlanta for myself. Not many other markets provide a professional with the same base of opportunities (Sure there are a few but not many). Of course this could vary depending on what field you are in.

But I would certainly entertain other markets as well, however it would need to be a place I would want to be.
