Yeah, but to fit in here, it'd have to be on 26" rims, with green metalflake paint....

lol I actually think a remake based on Atlanta (not using the exact storyline as someone said before, but tailoring the story to Atlanta culture) could be pretty cool, if done creatively that is.

There are plenty of sites to shoot a movie like Ferris Bueller here. If I were going to give it a local spin, I'd probably put Cameron's home in Brookhaven or Milton, and substitute the Peachtree Road Race for the parade. The rest of the locations are pretty generic.

There ya go! A new idea! A movie about a bunch of nerds making a road trip to Atlanta to attend Dragon*Con. Better than making this remake. It could be like like "Hangover" but with a nerd twist. Endless characters and maybe they could have a big finale Star Wars vs Star Trek fight, Marvel vs DC fight, even throw in William Shatner.

Now that might vault Atlanta's Dragon*Con past San Diego's Comic-Con.

Where is New Atlanta? Is that the theme of a casino in Las Vegas?

I feel as if I am on REPEAT on this forum. Would you OLD timers, with your outdated perceptions of Atlanta, just go AWAY already?

PEOPLE! Why do you REFUSE to accept that these notions are OUTDATED? Why do you REFUSE to UPDATE the way you THINK? Atlanta has PROGRESSED... why haven't YOU?

UGH. Let me break it DOWN for the OLD timers:

The OLD Atlanta (1966-1996): non-diverse, crime-ridden, culturally-staid, provincial. A city Ferris Bueller would never even live in, let alone spend his day off in. A city that could not support a Ferris Bueller remake, since the only cultural attractions it has to offer is the Coke museum.

The NEW Atlanta (born in 1996; came of age around 2010 or so): diverse, safe, green, international, cultured, dense, urban. A city where a remake of Ferris Bueller is not only FATHOMABLE, but LIKELY.

Dude, shut up nobody wants to see an Atlanta filled with dirty pretentious hipsters. Just face it when people think of Atlanta they think of King, Laface records, Andrew Young, John Lewis, Lil John, tricked out cars, big houses, college life (GSU, Georgia Tech, Spelman, Morehouse, AUC, etc), football, and the entrepreneurial spirit. When people think of Atlanta nobody thinks of cute little coffee shops, hipsters walking ugly dogs, and all of the other pretentiousness that comes with people who want to turn Atlanta into east village. Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with folks like this, but thats not Atlanta, sorry.

So Atlanta is "progressing" by being the setting of a 1986 remake? Sounds old and staid to me.
