Hi. Im pretty new to Atlanta and have yet to get my feet wet with the nightlife of the city and need some help because I have a group of friends coming to town this weekend. Since they are coming all this way I want to make sure its a good weekend. Im looking for an area where there is a good selection of nice trendy bars and a hot club preferably within walking distance or near by so that we can pick our poison instead of having to drive all over the city. We are all mid 20 males looking for a mixed crowd atomsphere (21-35yo, hip hop/top 40/not dominated by one race type place.)

They are staying down on Peachtree near 5 points and I know that should give me some options but if some you Atlanta experts could point me to the right street or area that would be great! Thanks.

Little 5 Points, Decatur square, East Atlanta Village, crescent ave in Midtown, Virginia-Highlands, Buckhead Village/East Andrews. By far my favorites are Little 5 Points and Decatur.

While I'm not dissing the area (mainly because these are the bars that I frequent), I don't know if the Buckhead/East Andrews area would be a great fit. While the bars down there are a ton of fun, I would hardly call them trendy. They are also all bars, no real clubs there. Also, the crowds are not diverse. At all.

As cqholt mentioned, I would try Little Five Points, East Atlanta, and Midtown. I think those would be the best options for what you're looking for.

OP wants hip hop or top 40. What club in Little Five caters to that type of music?

Yeah, guys, read the OPs request, don't put your spin on it.

I would originally suggest Virginia Highland as the place with the higest concentration of bars, but he is looking for a place with a hot club.

No hot clubs in East Atlanta, Decatur, or Little Five Points.

Midtown is your best option. Concentrate around Opera on Crescent Avenue. You can also walk to Reign and Vanquish from there. Assorted bar/pubs scattered about the area as well.

If you try the other locations, you will surely find bars and pubs, but no hopping club.

You can also target Buckhead with places like Bottle Bar and Havana Club, but unfortunately I'm not sure if the hopping clubs are within walking distance to the other bars (Bottle Bar, yes, Havana Club, probably not).

Crescent Ave. You've got Opera for a true club atmosphere, RiRa (huge Irish pub) is right there, Tin Lizzy's usually has a packed bar, etc.

Just giving the OP options. They can look up the clubs/bars in those areas.

Atlanta doesn't have a nightclub district like many cities do. We used to but we don't any more. If you want to go to club hopping (more than say a few places), you have to actually get in the car for that.

For true clubs go with Crescent Ave in Midtown.
