Why not? Students at intown high schools typically outperform their peers in suburban high schools.

Not true that urban schools fail all students: Intown white high school students outperform suburban counterparts. | Get Schooled

I don't care. I wouldn't argue with someone else's decision to send their child to a school like this, but I would like my child to learn in an environment that more or less mimics the ethnic diversity of this country.

We are not an 88% minority country. At least, not yet.

So you want there to be more white people?

Is that any different than all the people who come here saying they want to move to a "diverse" area, and when you cut to the chase, they really want to make sure there's enough black people there for them?

Yes. I want more than 12% white people. I thought I was clear about that.

I won't apologize for that.

It's reasonable for black people to want more than 12% black people, so I expect the same for white people.

Well, North Atlanta HS is not monolithic. It's 2% Asian, 56% black, 17% Hispanic and 21% white.

Compare that to the typical demographic breakdown at well known high schools in the suburban counties. I don't see much difference.

The data I was looking at was wrong. This data is much more reasonable.

Looking at the trends over the past 3 years, the demographics haven't changed that much, but both white and black numbers have slightly decreased. Asian numbers have remained the same, but Hispanic and mult-racial numbers have slightly increased.

So I guess you could say that it is slowly becoming more diverse. The shifts are so small, though, it's probably not accurate to say they represent actual trends.

Personally I think about a little bit of everything when I see or say "diverse". That is more then just white or black.

What's a resonable % of white people to make you feel comfortable your kids aren't getting robbed or dating interacially?
