Lived in Ft. Lauderdale for a bit & loved it, so i have a soft spot for the Miami area. Have some extened family in Naples & I liked it (has clearer water than the Atlantic). Which brings me to Tampa/St. Petersburg, if you go there, you should go to clearwater beach.

Longboat Key
Orlando
St. Augustine
Panama City (because I actually love skyscraper condos and trashy beach attractions)
Seaside
Alys Beach

Where I have yet to go and really want to: Key West

I would have to say

tarpon springs , sanibel, the keys, marco
but having grown up down there, I have fond memories of other areas as well. The aforementioned would be my top pics for vacations though.

I'd stay out of miami beach too dangerous.

One place I'd love to visit and came close this year (gas prices were too high) is Flamingo in the Everglades NP. I really wanted to see some wildlife and spend a few days down there in the unspoiled, undeveloped areas. Maybe some day.

I like St. Pete Beach as it is not as flashy as some other beach locations, and seems to have more locals and Europeans rather than the partying teens or twentysomethings. Plus, I prefer the Gulf water to the Atlantic.

Pensacola Beach. Grew up in West Palm Beach, but my favorite spot in all of FL are the Keys. Too bad they are 12 hours from Atlanta.

I have to go with my hometown of Sanibel Island. Growing up there in the 70's was amazing and even though the island has changed and gotten very trendy, it's still beautiful.
