More to the point, residents enjoy access to all of this without getting in a car.

Default I'm there already

I live just outside the city limits of Decatur, and have worked at Emory for the last 10 years or so.
I think it's great. I believe it is a very well-run city. There are many restaurants, the city often puts on music downtown, and they close the main street for a few weekend festivals during the year.
Within the city, crime is minimal for the Atlanta area but that is not saying much. I've never felt uncomfortable (used to often be on-call and work in the AM's) as there's usually people around until suddenly they're all gone when the restaurants close. When there's other people around you are safe, but if you make a habit of walking around at 2:00AM by yourself, you WILL get knocked on the head.
Look on the various crime map sites and you'll see some areas outside Decatur that are lit up, like to the South and East.

When school is out the drive is usually 15 minutes to Emory (4 miles for me) arriving a little before 8:00. After 8:00 traffic is a bit worse. When school is in it can take 20-25 minutes if the lights are against you.

Before I moved to Decatur, I lived outside the I-285 loop and the commute was usually less than an hour but not that rarely could be 90 minutes. Almost every day I would be subjected to some example of hyper-agressive driving.

Default House for Rent

I have a ranch house 3bd/2ba approximately 1700 sq.ft on North Decatur that will be listed for rent around the 2nd -3rd week of July and thought you may be interested. The house is located on Fairoaks Road, Decatur,GA 30033. You can do a google search and see where it is. The location is safe and convenient to Emory University and downtown of Atlanta. The neighborhood is safe and you can almost find walkers/joggers/runners/bikers at any time of the day, even at midnight. We are looking to rent it out for $1300/month. If you are interested, please contact me at tuoinguyen0910@gmail.com and I can provide you with additional information/photos.
