What is a good online real estate site to look for rental townhouses? I am trying to look for a rental in Sandy Springs/Dunwoody/East Cobb. Forrent.com, rent.com, apartments.com don't seem to be able to run a good search for that area. Craigslist seems to be too cumbersome to weed through the areas to find the right listings for me. Any suggestions would be great. I also tried harrynorman.com but that seemed better for sales.

Padmapper was GREAT until craiglist decided to sue them.

For those who do not know, padmapper would automatically pull listings from craigslist that had an address and put them on a map interface. The site is still up, but craigslist has sued them and padmapper has stopped pulling in craigslist listings in the meantime.

The next best search tool with a map interface is hotpads.com..... but you still need to use craigslist even though it is extremely cumbersome. What area are you shooting for and what is your price range and apt size ?

We are looking for a townhouse or single family house but not apartment. 3+beds/2bath and probably under $2000/mth. Ideally, want a place that would be ok with us not locking in for 12 months as we want to get a feel for the area and then buy a single family home when we get settled. Husband will be working downtown and 2 kids in preschool probably in Sandy springs/Dunwoody but unsure.

I don't think you will find too many townhomes or single family homes where they want to do less than a 12 month lease. Maybe some but that will seriously limit your choices.
