Rex is located 24 miles south of Atlanta. It is located in Clayton County. The population was 12,912 as of 2010. The median household value in 2010 was $140,780 which is 13% below the state average. The median household income in 2010 was $54,938 which is 12% above the state average. It should be a great and reasonable place to live.

Default Just wondering . . .

So what do you think now that you have moved to Rex. My wife and I are considering buying a house in Rex or Stockbridge.

Default Did things work out??

I'm planning on moving to Rex as well and wondering how did everything work out for you. Would you recommend this area to a family with children?? I know nothing about the Atlanta area at all and would like to get a little more thoughts from those who do.

No.

Look elsewhere...like in another county where the schools are better.

What grades are your children in, and where do you work. By the way don't let Clayton haters change your decision. Rex is a beautiful area with good schools. They really appreciate parent participation. Do you know what house you'll rent/buy already?

I know this thread is old, but I'm also thinking of moving to Rex. Can any one give a fresh update for 2018. Any information would be helpful.

Rex is really an unincorporated community in northeastern Clayton County. It has a charming village around an old grist mill, but is mostly subdivisions spanning from the 1970's until recently. There are parts of it that feel almost "semi rural", especially on the far northeastern edges. The homes range from "fixers" to the extreme, to some really nice upscale properties on acreage and EVERYTHING in between. No, it is not what I would call "high crime" by any means. Shopping is fairly limited within the Rex zip code, think a grocery store (fairly nice, large Food Depot at the 675 interchange) and of course the accompanying drug store and dollar store, but nearby Morrow to the west has Southlake Mall. (not all you want but all you need) Southlake has Macy's, Sear's, and H & M. To the east there is Stockbridge with Walmart and big boxes.

All responses have been great!

I will be looking at a few homes this weekend. I'm just trying to maximize the square footage of the house we'll eventually buy, while not exposing my family to an unacceptable situation.
