Tried to find a list of former schools on Wikipedia, but found none. The artilce for Atlanta public schools shows these are now middle schools: Brown, Sylvan Hills, Price and Harper/Archer.

What about Inman Park? Is that a decent neighborhood? Im in South Georgia, my bf lives in Midtown and when I'm there we rarely leave the area. We've been house hunting on the weekends but it's really hard to get a feel for neighborhoods this way. We know we like VaHi and Candler Park. I found a great listing in Inman Park, but I'd like some input on the area as our viewing time is so limited. We've need to start the purchase negotiations ASAP due to school starting and his lease running out.

Inman Park is a great neighborhood and on par price wise with Va Hi and Candler Park (someone more knowledge may provide better info). In contrast, Grant Park is generally much more affordable.

I simply ADORE the homes in our price range in Grant Park, but MJHS makes me nervous. My daughter will be starting 9th grade and we've lived in a small town all our lives. Our town is akin to one of the OTP suburbs of Atlanta. I don't want my kid to be completely shellshocked. Our budget is $350K, we need parking for two cars, 2+ BR, 2+ BA, and apparently Grady school district. He works at Tech Square and I'm self employed and work from home.

Coming from a small town, any big city school, either Grady or a suburban school, will be a shock.

I'm sure you're right. There are almost 1600 students at our local high school so it's of comparable size, but I wonder how different the environment will be. Quite, I'm sure.

Huge sigh of relief. We've found TWO homes we like in Candler Park and they haven't disappeared from the market before we returned from the showing! That's an improvement.
