Having access to other cities make our city great. I love Atlanta but I also love to travel. That's why I love and support Megabus.

No, I get it, I understand it, but it still sounds funny in the conversation.

I have never ever EVER heard anybody say New York is great because it is close to Washington or Boston. Nobody says Miami is great because it is close to the Caribbean. People who love Portland never mention its proximity to Seattle or Vancouver as why they love it.

You have to appreciate the irony in saying you love your city because it is so easy to get away from. Even if it makes sense, it is still humorous.

It's true though. Nyc would not be as popular if it was located in South Dakota. My friends laugh at me when I say that "yes I love Atlanta but I'm going on vacation every weekend" lol

LOL! I was thinking the same thing. If your city's greatness is based on how close it is to other cities for things to do, and you have to suggest activities that aren't even in the city limits, that's highly indicative that your city is sorely lacking in things to do.

Tony either has never been to or spent much time in other major cities. I'm from Chicago and we NEVER had to leave the city itself to do anything, including going to the beach unless you actually were going on vacation. I moved to Atlanta as an adult and still hadn't done everything there was to do there before moving here, and I did a lot there weekly!

-Hiking? In Chicago, dowtown has so much to see and most of the neighborhoods have amenities and are walkable, so no need to go find a hiking trail to get in a walk unless you just want a nature hike. We used to do nature hikes sometimes, but walked everywhere in the city and we stayed in shape.

-Biking? You just bike in your neighborhoods or along the lake shore. We also went rollerblading down the lakefront. There was never any need to drive far out anywhere so that we could ride our bikes. If anything, people drive with their bikes INTO the city or into downtown to ride their bikes along the lakeshore. And even people who live on the eastern side of the burbs have access to the lake. The city has become even more bike friendly since I left.

Instead of getting offended that people point out what Atlanta lacks compared to other cities, people need to push Atlanta govt to step it up so it can actually BE the great city it claims it is.

-Shopping? Top-notch and only rivaled by NYC.
I never experienced the boredom in Chicago that I do here.

NYC and DC have more parks, more bars and clubs and more events and festivals going on in the city. Atlanta is lacking in all of those in comparison except maybe the bar and clubs.

The San Francisco Bay area and Chicago are pretty isolated yet, they are also highly rated. Try again.

You have a right to your opinion. I'm not going to argue with you but every city on earth becomes old if you live there long enough

Not my intention to start an arugment. It's all good!

And you are right, people do grow tired of where they have lived a long time and seek a change. I have relatives and friends who left Chicago to moved to California and the south (Atlanta and Nashville).

ALL of my friends and relatives who moved to the south went right back to Chicago. All of them lol. My only relatives who didn't move back are the ones who moved to California. My family is a Navy family and that's how they ended up in CA.

But you can't say that all cities are the same way as Atlanta because they aren't

You said the museums in other cities are tourist traps too. In my hometown everyone loves going to the museums all through out the year. The free day at the museums is on Thursdays and everbody loved going if they could get the time off from work/school, and they were always packed! And not just with tourists, with locals. I've been to The High on free day Saturdays and the only time it's crowded is if there's a special exhibit or event, other free days, not so much.
