A couple of interesting comparison photos of Midtown.

In way the one from 1971 looks more pedestrian friendly than what we have today.

The buildings look nice and do add a great feel to Peachtree in that part of Midtown. All I know about it seems to be an aesthetic addition, what am I missing? What about the project is 24hrs? How much more of the development is left to be built?

Also, does anyone know when that cargo container restaurant is opening?

As for 12th and Midtown project isn't about the height of the buildings, it's more about the street level retail and energy that they have brought to Midtown. Currently they have about 130k sq ft of retail open and they plan on adding an additional 200k in the next few years. They have recently bought several additional acres of land near 12th and Midtown. They have not said where the land is but I'm assuming it is the area around Skyhouse 1.0 apartments. According to their website the parking lot next to STK on Peachtree St should be next. Since the development is doing so good I expect for them to probably start on 2 additional buildings next year because the demand for additional apartments and condos in that area is extremely high. The project is close to being 24 hours because of the office workers that are there during the morning- afternoon, people eating at the restaurants during the evening and the bars/clubs that are open until 3am. The only time it isn't 24 hours is between 3am - 6am.

Ahhh, I see. The development has been a great addition at street level. Driving or walking by those places at night make Atlanta look even better.

This picture near 10th St. from Streets Alive looks pretty pedestrian friendly:
