This official also mentioned how at several public meetings residence of Midtown were unified in stating their concerns regarding the car Maintenance Facilities noise, pollution and its overall effect of the neighborhood's quality of life, not to mention it would be an unwelcome eyesore. Overwhelmingly Midtowners supported the Atlanta Streetcar as a great local transportation option and an effective form of traffic relief, saying they would definitely use it. Yet a resounding NO was heard to housing the Maintenance Facility in Midtown. This official also pointed out that the GDOT already owned the land and the City of Atlanta has been trying to improve the area underneath the connector for years.

Atlanta is just flat out beautiful, and tourist will just love all the inside views of Central Atlanta. I'm liking the project more and more, and personally plan on using it for lunch at the Auburn Market.

I followed the streetcar loop the other day and it is sure coming along. When does it open up and when will they start testing it with actual cars?

Service is due to start in April 2014, testing will probably occur a month or so before that.

I think this is an awesome idea, and will definitely help businesses see why locating in downtown and along the streetcar is desirable.

"When the Atlanta Streetcar begins service between Centennial Olympic Park and the King Center this spring, civic officials want temporary "pop-up" galleries and businesses to enliven currently vacant storefronts along its route."

Pop-up shops are a coming.

Plans for temporary "pop-up" businesses along the new Atlanta Streetcar route have attracted more than 100 applicants and some big names eager to compete for space along the transit line. CL has the list of 17 businesses popping up this spring and summer in Downtown - and more may be coming.
"We got a hundred applications for [businesses] who wanted to be Downtown," says Kristi Rooks, senior project manager at Central Atlanta Progress, organizer of the pop-up program. "For us, that was super-cool,"

Even though they are mostly funded by grants and temporary, this is a great idea to draw people to the corridor and off the streetcars onto the sidewalk.

It will be an awesome line, I was shock at how beautiful all the new construction on Park Avenue West near the centennial park looked. Then to see the backdrop of the Skyline and the Coca -Cola building, while driving through there. Atlanta is just flat out beautiful. The street car will be such a welcome addition for the tourist and college kids. I look forward to riding it outside the 191 building by the Ritz to the Auburn market for lunch.

It'll be used by commuters too. In five years it'll be part of the BeltLine.
