They just re-paved the road in front of it.

What else would you like to know?

forsyth county basically segregates their schools, sending majority hispanic and black neighbourhoods to different schools than the white neighbourhoods. it's never 100% white but it's always pretty close— you can see the gerrymandering they do on the school zone maps.

my brother went to WFHS for one year— it's basically run like a prison. the entire campus is self-contained in one compound including the gym and cafeteria and kids never have to (or are allowed to) go outside. the grounds are patrolled by school officials in golf carts.

however, i will say that the quality of education is not bad. there are definitely some high quality teachers there.

i went to south forsyth high school from 2004-2008, and near the end we actually had some diversity, we had become an IB school (international baccalaureate) and had a lot of options going. however, that was before they opened up lambert high school and west forsyth, which they gerrymandered all the white kids into, leaving south forsyth into a majority minority school from what i understand. i have no idea what it's like now.

(see bolded above)

This is not true.

i know for a fact they are manipulating the school districts based on race, however i don't know for a fact that south forsyth is a majority-minority school— i've talked to several folks since then who have gone back to visit and have noticed the decreased diversity, with very few white students left.

look at this page here:

South Forsyth High School - Cumming, Georgia - GA - School overview

it's a review site for the high school, i just googled 'south forsyth high school info' and this came up. look at all the racial discussion on the page, one commenter complaining about the on-level courses being 'painful' due to 'diversity', and another having contacted the school system about the on-level courses not being challenging, and getting the reply "due to the diversity we cannot hold your daughter to a higher standard". typical forsyth county racist BS. blacks are stupid so we have to dumb everything down, nevermind that our on-level classes sucked in the first place, just blame it on the n****rs...

We live in the West Forsyth boundary and 2 of our 4 kids currently attend WFHS. There are kids of different races and nationalities attending this school. There are some in our neighborhood. It is not 100% lilly white school. One of my kids attend VCMS and the other attend the new Kelly Mills Elementary school. Once the apartment complexes go up, there will be more diversity. To my knowledge, I don't think there are apartment complexes in the West Forsyth boundaries. (Please correct me if I'm wrong...)

We only been down here since July 2011, we are pleased with the quality of education compared to our previous school district from Michigan. It's not the same but there are some differences (class size is bigger here than in Michigan, just one recess at the elementary while there are 3 recesses up north, etc).

alphawell - you will need to visit the schools while it is in session...you will get a good feel. That is what we did during our house hunting trip back in April 2011...we visited several high schools, had a tour, spoke with the teachers and some principals...spoke with the security people outside, spoke with the kids, after school, we spoke with some of the parents. We even spoke with the police officers parked out front directing traffic. We were narrowed down to several schools: West Forsyth, South Forsyth, Roswell HS, Alpharetta HS, and Milton HS. Our top 2 HS were Milton and West Forsyth.

Once we found some houses we liked, we spoke with the people in the neighborhood, the people at the club house, and people walking their dog. We wanted to get their input why they live in this neighborhood and if they had to do it all over again, what would they do differently, etc.

Overall, we are pleased with the move and with our decision to be in the West Forsyth boundaries.

According to schooldigger.com, as of 2010 S. Forsyth is still 71.1% white. That is one year after the split for Lambert. The 2009 school year, before the split, it was only 78.7% white. I would hardly call that a radical change.

Do realize many Hispanics also check the white box. I am both but many just Hispanics select white also. People forget Hispanic/Latino is not a race it is an ethnicity.

For example when I fill out a race question I select:

Are you Hispanic or Latino: Yes

Race: White

I agree Forsyth is known for doing things like this. Now all the "South Forsyth" people will get mad at me. I am still wondering why people are so concerned about living in "South Forsyth" not just Forsyth. Maybe I should introduce myself as living in Neighborhood(I do not say what neighborhood I live in online) or Buckhead instead of Atlanta.

I love how N. Atlanta has now begun to include Cumming! North Atlanta High is in Buckhead. Or how Forsyth has Johns Creek Elementary even though Johns Creek is in Fulton.
