Hampton and Lovejoy are both nice areas. Low crime, decent schools (better in Hampton), cheap housing, etc. I would recommend them. I wouldn't recommend Riverdale, Forest Park or Morrow. Parts of Jonesboro aren't bad either but the farther north you get the worse it's going to be. I don't live in Hampton but have plenty of experience there.

xxman777 - I live in Hampton, Clayton county. Hampton also has a section in Clayton county, located between Lovejoy & Jonesboro. If you go a mile or less in pretty much any direction except North, you will be in either Henry or Fayette county.
I agree about not recommending Riverdale, Forest Park or Morrow, that some parts of Jonesboro are decent & that the farther North you go the worse Clayton gets. I believe that is because there is mass transit available there (C-Tran).

It sounds like you are actually in Lovejoy. You see Lovejoy doesn't have its own post office so Lovejoy addresses carry the Hampton name but they aren't actually in Hampton. Hampton is a small town just east of the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Henry County. There isn't a town of henry or part of Clayton county which is refered to as Hampton. There might be a subdivision which carries the Hampton name but the area of the county would be refered to as something else. It is very common (especially in Georgia) for an address to list a particular city but not be in that city. Myself for example have an Atlanta address but I certainly don't live in the city. It just happens to be the closest city to me. My uncle has a Duluth address but again doesn't actually live in Duluth.
Regardless, it doesn't really matter. What matters is that you live in Clayton county which says you probably have some experience in the area and can give people a good idea of where they should and shouldn't live.

I would say if you are looking in that area, Lovejoy, Mcdonough, Hampton would all probably be okay. They are affordable and rural but still close to jobs and stuff. That area is also growing very fast. Don't move to Forest Park and probably not Jonesboro I would say. Atlanta is one of the most dangerous cities in the US so I would try to live out a little away from it.

i'd disagree about Jonesboro. yes, parts of it may be slightly iffy, but its still a decent town, and its more integrated than other suburbs in south Atlanta are. however, i won't disagree that much of the suburbs north of Jonesboro have sadly been starting to decline in recent years. and i'm aware of the situation about the sherriff not actually being the most keen person that should be running the department, but hopefully that'll change eventually.
oh, and the areas east of Jonesboro are quite nice(especially around Lake Jodeco, where one of my relatives has lived for years).

Yes post office told us the same ... & I am familiar with Hampton in Henry county, its about 10 min. from home. There are actually several subdivisions located in that area of Clayton county carrying the Hampton name over at least a mile radius if not more. Not to mention stores, restaurants, etc. It's kinda funny because others I've spoken to in the area have heard the same but have no idea what the area technically should be called ... perhaps Jonesboro or Lovejoy?
But hey as long as the bills (tax bills in particular!) keep coming to my Hampton, Clayton county address, that's where I'll say I live

Yes, I have a family member that recently moved because of the above stated Clayton county problems. Not a good area

Yes, of course, mass transit is the problem. Really, the ignorance is just so horrible.

Um no, our crime doesn't compare to Brooklyn's... it exceeds it. 2004 are the most recent stats, but here they were compared to NYC...
