Do you think the Homestead Exemption is a good thing? Would you rather it repealed for a lower millage rate?

There should be no homestead exemption because property tax should be done away with altogether.

Think about it. You work hard and save up to finally own your home outright then you still gotta make the rent. It's ridiculous and unfair. It's unfair because market conditions prone to bubble & bust and other circumstances that are beyond your control dictate what you will be paying.

So, if there were no property tax, how would you propose that the city/county should pay for the services they provide??

Good question. Ive yet to find the alleged money tree that our government seems to think grows in abundance.

I'd like to see the answer to this one myself.

The was discussed last week in this topic .
I believe taxes should be income based. I also believe there should be additional user fees for certain services, particularly schools. The increase to income taxes to pay for local services would be extremely small.
As it is, property tax is intended to keep us 1.) all wage slaves until the day we die 2.) and/or dependent on banking and investment products.

I think we're getting off topic now as this thread is about the homestead exemption. I'll save Greg the trouble and leave it that.
