On Thursday, August 23, at 10:30 a.m., Kwanza will join the GA Department of Transportation as we re-open Castleberry Hill's Mitchell Street Bridge. The bridge, which was re-built through federal stimulus funding, is one of Downtown Atlanta's key east-west connections.

I am glad that this bridge will be complete, but it was closed around ~2008 due to structurual integrity concerns. Construction started in early 2010, and they are finishing near the end of 2012. This simple project should not have taken 4-5 years to complete.

I hear you, but funding and construction didn't actually take 4-5 years since they did not start until 2010.

Unfortunately there are other bridges downtown that aren't much better, yet no plans to replace them.
