Atlanta is still a good ole Southern Town with Rough Edges

Am I right in thinking that Georgia was one of the last places to outlaw segregation? If so it follows that there are plenty of bigots still there and bigotry takes a long time to stop being passed down the line to children and grandchildren. It should start to ease once all the KKK grandparents are dead.

But at the end of the day, many black parents and grandparents are teaching their kids that all white people are evil to, someone posted something on here about the "evil" white people, a blanket statement and very sad for someone educated to make.

I have a good mixture of races in my heritage and although viewed as a tanned white man (even in winter), I really have not got the time for the stupidity of racial purity.

What's my point?: Atlanta still has those historically southern "incidents" popping up from time to time, even in the heart of the city. Non-white newcomers need to hear about these incidents, because a lot of whites keep quiet about or are unaware of this inconvenient reality.

So if you were referring to racism when you said good'ole southern town, what are the rough edges?

That same attitude is directed from blacks to whites, too. I went to southern arkansas, and found myself to be the butt of jokes at a gas station by a bunch of black thugs in a car. It's not just white on black, it's black on white, too.

What you have to realize is that redneck Jim and his wife Agnes who were present and laughing during all of the evil doings of the Lester Maddox era didn't go anywhere. And in fact they were breeding. And their children were
as well. So that element is still very much around. And though their family may have settled in Forsyth or Hall county etc they will stil venture into the city on occasion. And when they do they are very brazen and bold. Well as long as their in a passing vehicle anyway. LOL.

I am sorry you feel this way. I agree with you, however given the recent turn of events in this town (Asain, mexican's etc.) how can us Americans not be upset? It is kinda funny that we all get on our political highhorse when it comes the blacks and the hispanics, but what about the rebels? They are discriminated against every time someone sees that confederate flag. I think that our government needs to close th boarders and deport everyone that is here illegally and help its own first. Look at the water problems were are having. Any reason why we are running out of water? This country is not designed to support all of these people.

This government sucks big time.
