Discrimination in Atlanta?

I've lived in Atlanta for 14 years as a black woman and have NEVER experienced any racisim or anything preventing from advancing in my career. Its not very prevalent (to my knowledge). I would say you will be fine.

I know our neighborhood in Mableton (southeast Cobb) is quite diverse, and we see folks of all colors at the grocery stores we visit (normally the Kroger just south of Vinings on Atlanta Road), in restaurants around Smyrna/Vinings/Marietta/Austell, etc.

As far as I know it isn't a big deal. Then again, it probably depends on the context you're talking about, and since I'm a middle-aged white male there's probably a lot going on that I'm simply not exposed to.

Simple, yet to the point! Can you imagine living in a place where people take personal responsibility for the things that happen to them? If you get passed over for a promotion you don't whine that it is because you are black, white, female, male, jewish, muslim, handicapped, fat, etc. Instead you take a hard look at yourself and ask what your shortcomings are. And then you set about tryiong to fix them. Wow. What a concept!
