Hi! We may be relocating to Conyers from Athens for work. Looking for an area that is kid-friendly with decent schools. Not worried about size of town or any of that--but we would prefer an area where there are still good deals on homes, and that is commutable to Rockdale County. If anyone has tips I would appreciate it! We know nothing about the area and are learning as we visit. Thanks!

My friend lives in Monroe and it's very close to Conyers and I do think they have deals on homes in Monroe. It's a very lovely area where she lives and I always enjoy visiting her there. It's also very convenient to Loganville and Conyers.

Covington, Porterdale, or Oxford would probably be good bets. Social Circle is starting to get a bit far probably. There's also Walnut Grove, not sure if it's an incorporated city yet or not.

Yes..I had considered Walnut Grove, b/c it's on the way to Athens as well. My folks live there, and our children are pretty close with them and their friends. Would be nice to be able to pop up for a day trip. What about Redan? I noticed it on the map but had never heard of it. Thanks!

Redan is located in Dekalb County which means its closer to Atlanta and not Athens. Redan's population is 33,000 and it is 92% African American and 2% white. It is not a bad place by any means to live. There is also a hospital 5 miles away which is Dekalb Medical Center at Hillandale.
