Please don't listen to the people saying Creflo Dollar's church! The guy drives around in a Bently trying to show how rich he is while taking people's money from them! He is among the likes of Pat Robertson and Jerry Faulwell.

I would also recomend Atlanta City Church. They have two locations ,one of which is in Peachtree City.

Having met Creflo Dollar and having been to his church I would have to say he is nothing but impressive. He really know his stuff and the church is run like a well run ship. Alot of churches could learn alot from them on how to accomodate and take care of a congregation from observing them.

Do you want a church that stands for true equality and love or one that is merely multi-''racial''? If the former, then don't go to Victory World Church because it is a pack of homophobes, anti-divorcees and is filled with hatred for non-Christians. It claims to be ''non-denominal'' and maybe it is but it is also a fundamentalist church.

In other words, you call yourself a Christian, but you don't believe what the Bible has to say about sexual immorality or divorce. That says more about you than Victory World Church. I would hope most churches in the metro are of the "fundamentalist" variety, as you say.

What Bobby says is valid, Jesus embraced the prostitute, the woman at the well, the tax collector and he admonished the rich man, telling him it's easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Fundamental churches do not represent the Kingdom of God, and neither do faith and prosperity churches where the leader drive Bentleys... does anyone really think Jesus would be driving a Bentley if he were walking the face of this earth today?

Regarding Fundamentalist Churches, I found their narrow interpretation of how one ought to live life as a Christian to be inadequate for real life. When my marriage was headed for divorce I received no support, and the divorce was not my idea. My husband and I separated for three years, only to eventually reconcile 5 years ago - after we both left the 'never can measure up' fundy church. A friend of mine had a daughter announce she was lesbian, the fundy church was also inadequate in helping my friend process this and still love her daughter, in fact she had to hide this very important piece of her life from her church friends, and living with a something to hide is not living in the light of the Lord - but disowning her daughter, as the chrch told another family with a son who came out of the closet, was NOT an option.

Spirit-filled is fine, and megachurches have their place, I guess, but please keep in mind how Jesus would change lives, by loving people where they are at and building one-on-one relationships based on, above all else, love. Don't overlook neighborhood churches and the opportunity to build relationships with people who live in close proximity to where you live.

May the Lord Guide You and Bless You and Shine His Contenance Upon You!

Maybe someone can explain, clearly how driving a Bentely is a sin? If we all was to give a honest response, if you wrote books, and was a successful business man would you not drive a Bentely? I for one would, if Creflo makes that kind of money then God bless him even more.

As for his church, as long as they are doing things to feed the community, and they are preaching the word of God, then that is it. People always look down on mega churches saying the pastors have too much wealth, well as long as they are not obtaining this wealthc soley from the church and not giving back then my bible dosnt tell anything wrong with it.

I wouldn't necessarily say driving a Bentley is a sin, but for a spiritual leader to be doing so is, in my view, not in keeping with Christ's heart and love for the poor amongst us.

Do you know the sticker price of a new Bentley? 225k and up. Compare this to a new Caddilac SUV, which not a shabby set of wheels - the Caddy's MSRP starts at 42k. The Bentley signifies an over-the-top expense which maybe okay for the Jay Lenos and Donald Trumps of this world, but for a SPIRITUAL leader this type of extravagant expense is outrageous in my opinion. No matter if he/she earned the money for the purchase via book sales, or even if it was a gift... it's still in very poor taste for a spiritul leader the separate him/herself from ordinary people in this manner.

Remember... we are NOT talking about corporate business leaders and entertainers, we are talking about SPIRITUAL leaders, therefore the standards and expectations are different.

I personally try to live by the Quakers motto "Live Simply so that others may Simply Live."
This is not a lifestyle everyone is called to follow, nor is this the only way to serve the Kingdom of God.

I work with inner-city urban ministries and I see so much need for everyday necessities each and everyday right here in our backyards. I am not advocating freely giving handouts to the poor, I do not want to perpetuate a cycle of dependance on the system or charity, but there is so much need for the opportunity to "teach a man to fish" and to give children a decent education and to help a families into a home of their own... to walk aside the poor and to be friends with the poor.

Men and women who follow a calling to be God's Servants and dedicate their lives to ministry ought to be compensated, and if their message resonates and blesses the lives of others, praise the Lord! But when they seem to lose sight of the basic tenants of Christian faith I, for one, lose respect for them as a person and begin to doubt for whom they are building a Kingdom... for God's glory, or for their own?

Not everyone is called to work hands on with the poor and destitute in our society, but I do believe our spiritual leaders out to always remain mindful of Christ's words and teachings regarding the poor, because Christ has A LOT to say on this issue. Spiritual leader lead.first and foremost by example... the example of driving a Bentley just because he/she can afford to do so, due to the sale of his books or whatever other means, is NOT what I would call an inspirational example of Christian leadership.

BTW, I have been in the squalor home of a person who contributes to this man's ministry and buys his books. I have no doubt this woman has given up what most of consider to be basic necessities to support this man's ministry and to gain favor from God, as the promise is made, in doing so... there is a disconnect between this man riding around town in a Bentley and this elderly woman's everyday existance. She lives in public housing, an efficiency one-room apartment in a highrise, and her one meal a day is provided by 'meals on wheels'. I am not saying this preacher man ought to be giving directly to her, I am just saying since he is taking from her, methinks the DECENT thing to do would be to, at the very least, pass on the Bentley in favor of slummin' about town in a 40-60k Caddy SUV. I know it's asking a lot, but perhaps, for the sake of the Kingdom, he could make the sacrific.

Bottom line.... I very simply don't "get" the entire mindset of megachurch and televangelist leaders flying around in Learjets and driving Bentleys. Shaking My Head.

Having been an active member of Victory for 4 years, I have yet to meet a homophobic or anti-divorce person. But in a church of 6000 regular attenders I am certain there are some. There are probably some racists despite the number or races & nationalities represented. But Victory has never discouraged them from attending, just like they don't discourage homosexuals or divorced people, or anyone else suffering from some sin. They do offer a lot of ministries and support in various areas for those who want to take advantage of the support. They won't sugar coat the sins that are called out in the Bible though, in my opinion, it's done from the position of love not condemnation. If you go there long enough and you're a sinner (and you are unless you're Jesus) you will have the opportunity to be offended when the topic of your sin of choice comes up. But it's been this way at every church I've ever attended regardless of size or demonitation. The question one must ask him/herself is do they want to be offended & stay a sinner or do they want to become a better person and overcome their sin.

It sounds like you've had an unfortunate encounter with someone who isn't filled with the holy spirit or perhaps a sermon rubbed you the wrong way. Or maybe you're just too sensitive, I don't know. Victory certainly isn't for everyone, but there's no reason to attack any church like that. The OP asked for recommendations of multi-racial churchs. Helpful posters offered their suggestions based on their experiences. Even StPaulEastSiders comments about why he dislikes fundamentalist churches or faith & prosperity churches are insightful, well thought out & reasoned without being provocative.
