michigan to atlanta/decatur/duluth area (Alpharetta, Tucker: apartments, crime rate, safe area)

I'm a 25 year old female looking for a safe area somewhere between decatur and north. I've been looking at apartments in Norcross, Duluth and Tucker. If anyone has any information or advice i'd love to hear it. I'm a recent collage grad so i don't have a lot of money and would like to spend under $800/mo. on a place. Anyone know Dupont Place or Marritt at Satellite Place?? clean and safe are my 2 concerns. thanks I am also wondering what utilities cost on average per month.

I live in Duluth myself and the crime rate is very low here...certainly much lower than Decatur. Norcross is right next door to Duluth, but crime has increased a good bit there in the last decade or so. I'm not that familar with Tucker, but it is better than Norcross most likely.

There is a long strip of apartments along Satellite Blvd in Duluth. Also Alpharetta and Lawrenceville are both fairly nice/safe areas as well (Alpharetta, moreso).

Do you know how far of a drive would it be from up in those areas to Decatur?? that's where my job will be? I don't want the drive to be super far but i am willing to drive if i can get a better, safer deal on a place. thanks again for your help. Have you heard anything about Merritt at Satellite Place Apartments?? I'm assuming it's on the road you mentioned earlier so it should be pretty good. I was also looking in Alpharetta but I think it will be a bit far for the drive to decatur...
