It looks like they have some major international players on board.

I would assume the city would not let something so hideous and flashy to be built.

Looks like Times Square had too much to drink and vomited up the front side of that building.

It seems to me that a better location would be the vacant property bounded by 17th Street, Northside Drive, and the railroad track. Great area for some sports fields. Although, now I see that this whole thing is indoors. Still, I think that location would be much more accessible and visible.

And yes, that rendering is hideous.

I have no problem with the design.

I just don't see how a facility gearted towards elite athletes and blue chippers wanting to play professionaly will have a positive impact on the regular citizen.

More than likely, it will be out of reach of 99% of the population if that truly is the target market.

I think GDOT owns that property. I know it was eyed for new Amtrak station before the MMPT was ultimately fast tracked. IF this thing is to be built, then regular kids and citizens would need access to it also and not for exorbitant fees.

Since it's a private development, I don't really care if they want to charge a million dollars for a membership fee. As long as they pay their taxes, they can cater to whatever clientele they want.

I would imagine a decent amount of extra tax revenue could be gained from people staying in nearby hotels and stuff. All the better imo.

And I actually don't think the location is terrible, provided the neighborhood adjacent to it is adequately protected. I'd rather the lots fronting 17th be saved for something more residential and higher-density.

Build a hotel or corporate apartments along 17th street.
