How does one steal cattle? Can't really put it under your arm and run off. Trailers would make a lot of noise.

That happened one time. A farmer had shot into the air because a masked thief tried to steal some of his cattle. Thankfully, down the road a Police officier caught him.
I'm in Kirkwood. We're heavily armed, but I prefer not to resort to that unless it's a dire emergency. The houses are so close together that you really have to be conscious of what's behind what you're aiming at.

For some reason this post just made me bust out laughing at work. Something about "masked thief" just put it over the top.

You end up in the wrong neighborhood, some people may stare you down, but it's rare it goes any further than that. People in Atlanta, even the criminals are really about making money, so many don't find a point in harassing innocent people. A lot of murders in Atlanta are mainly due to some guy finding his girlfriend on the couch with some other guy, and then he proceeds to murder that guy or something. There are VERY few street murders, and even when their are, VERY few innocent people get murdered. Overall senseless violence really isn't what Atlanta has ever been about. There is an odd story of it happening here and there, but for the most part criminals in Atlanta are too money minded to bother with petty violent crimes.
Bingo!

The OP only really needs to focus on staying out of locations/neighborhoods where he can potentially be robbed and really doesn't have to worry about homocide.

Atl has never really had a high murder rate from what I know, but the robbery and petty rate is still an issue in certain areas of Atl.

Atlanta has a crime index of 1 the lowest vs 100 the highest and safest. The 38,938 recently listed put the risk of one in 12. Google Atlanta crime. There is so much the media does not report it.
