Heh. The last time I was in Chicago they'd shut part of the "L" down (the yellow line going to Skokie) due to heavy snow.

I would say they aren't that different. I lived in Southern Minnesota most of my life and spent 2001-2003 in Chicago. This was my first summer in ATL and I found it to be similar to midwestern summers, maybe a bit hotter in August but I think this year was unusually hot. Humidity not that much different though. Hope this helps!
