Definitely hit up MJQ and/or El Bar on Ponce. They are underground dance clubs...not you normal "club" clubs.

Also this weekend is A3C, which is a hip hop festival.

I just want to check out some cool hip spots in ATL...bars, lounges, probably no club club since i'll be alone most likely.
I will PM you the hip hop spots later. Here it is ok to go to a club solo.

Another question!

The first weekend, I will be staying with my Aunt in Lawrenceville but the following, I am going to come back to ATL and get a hotel room. Can you guys recommend a hotel that is well placed but not too expensive? Somewhere I can stay and be able to cab it to bars/lounges at night; I will have a car but don't wanna be drinking and driving

Thanks

The Highland Inn 2010 is very close to the places that have been mentioned. Not the nicest hotel in the world, but it's an old hotel with a lot of charm and the rates are pretty inexpensive.

I don't even know what is considered midtown or downtown Atlanta lol...any names of the area(s)?

I came across this hotel for $99 a night for that weekend: Atlanta Marriott Buckhead Hotel & Conference Center. Is that a good area?

Thanks

Buckhead is the north side of the city so it will be a more expensive cab ride to get to the spots you are trying to visit in midtown/downtown. Buckhead has a good nighlife but caters mainly to the fratty (dirty triangle) or ritzy crowds (W's Whiskey Blue).

Don't stay in Buckhead. Too far from what you want to do.

I stayed at the Hotel Indigo in Midtown once. I don't remember the price, but it's very close to Ponce De Leon Avenue (Atlantans just call it Ponce, pronounced Ponts), the road where the aforementioned clubs are located.
