Hello! I am looking to purchase a condo unit on Ralph McGill, right off of Freedom Parkway. The unit is across from Two Urban Licks. According to my realtor, it is in the Poncey Highlands...I am relocating here for work, so I am not too familiar with the area. Is this area relatively safe and does it have good restaurants, bars, etc.

Yes, it is relatively safe. I've known several people who have lived right there and never had any problems. Two Urban Licks is about the only restaurant in the immediate area, but it is just a short distance away from a number of neighborhoods with a high concentration of bars and restaurants - the Highlands, Old 4th Ward, Midtown and Inman Park. If you go through the parking lot in which Two Urban Licks is located and past the Post Office, you can come out on North Avenue right where the Ponce City Market is being developed. That project, if done correctly, will be a boon for the whole area and the surrounding blocks are already being developed with a number of high-density projects. I advise doing some research on it to see if it's something that would interest you. On the plus side, it will become a desirable place to live. On the negative side, the growth of so many new units in the area over the next 5-10 years could impact your resale value.
