The Beltline is too successful already. The east side trail is just about as conjested with foot/bike traffic as 285 is with cars from ~ 5:00 - 8:00. I can't imagine how bad the conjestion will be once they build the train, more people move to the area, and there are shops/bars facing the beltline. I can already see major traffic jams happening in front of PCM.

1) Paths aren't wide enough
2) People that are just standing in the middle of the path need to get the out of the way.
3) Bridge over Ponce is to small.
4) No lighting
5) Would like to see Segway/Horse/Bike cops

There is probably an (expected) influx of people who have been waiting to check it out. There is a lot of enthusiasm for the project and people want to get a look at it now that it's open. I've been using it to commute to and from work and I'm glad it's there.

Lighting will come once funding is secured.
Police will be provided by APD, PATH Police squad.
The issue with people, its probably the same people that block intersections with their cars, merge at the last minute, and have no regard for others.

Anything new is typically overcrowded at the start. Plus the great weather has just about everyone getting out and checking it out.

Also, don't forget you only have a few miles of what will become 22 miles. That will thin out the crowds

When temps get colder or hotter only the true diehards will be using it.

I hope it does become so successful that it drives similar projects throughout the city or completion of the other parts of the BeltLine

They also have whistles, to stop criminals.

Agreed, I think it's well on its way to do so.

Also, a lot of the businesses on the East Side Trail need to turn around and face the beltline.

Agreed. They at least need to renovate so they face the Beltline and whatever street they are on. Seems like it'd be fairly easy and not particularly expensive. Tear down a wall and put in windows or a garage door. Also, the restaurants should build patios facing the BL if there is room.
