Is it realistic to commute from Atlanta to Bowdon? Google maps says 1 hr 17 minutes. My boyfriend will work in Norcross so we would both have long commutes and would need to live in central Atlanta. I am exploring an opportunity in Bowdon, so not sure if I should pursue it any further..

Thank you!

Heh...I had to look up Bowdon, I'd never heard of it.

Google Maps says Bowdon is 63 miles west of Atlanta, almost to Alabama. I know someone who lives just over the Alabama line and drives to work in Atlanta every day, but I wouldn't do it. I'm not familiar with I-20 during rush hour, but I've gotten stuck in traffic there more than once due to random construction.

I used to have a 50-mile commute down 575/75, and during rush hour, that was 1.5-2 hours each way. If you can work off-hours it might be worth it, but otherwise you're setting yourself up for essentially an unpaid part-time job, in terms of a timesuck.

If you live in the city and commute out to the suburbs your commute should be better traffic-wise. Of course that is just in general, day-to-day and your particular route may vary.

Seeing how Bowdon is so far West, you'd want to live on the West side of Atlanta if at all possible. Your commute would be long mileage-wise, but probably not too bad traffic-wise, but starting off on the West side of town would make your boyfriend's commute to Norcross a little painful. If he works normal hours, his commute would be shorter mileage-wise, but potentially longer time/traffic-wise than yours.
