You know what... I'm tired of this too.

Atlanta is a one of 10 biggest economies in the country and typically somewhere within the top 40 in the world. We are ranked as an Alpha-, attract Fortune 500 companies, world class education establishments, extensive domestic and international transportation connections, among many other things to tout... and we are just a backwards cultural wasteland!?

.... No... this is just unproductive and unnecessary.

Around 20% higher cost of living in Denver compared to Atlanta. Schools are pretty close - we lived in Cherry Creek district in CO, and Gwinnett here in ATL. The top schools in each district rank pretty evenly.
I'm envious of Denver's Mountains and some of their extremely nice parks right outside the city, but I just thought it would be worth mentioned...

We have great Deer hunting and stream fishing and across the Piedmont. I'd also point out we are within driving distance to beach vacations and the Appalachian mountains, albeit... not exactly day trips like the Rockies being right next door!

As for Skiing.... fly to Denver lol Nonexistent here unless you like the seasonal bunny slop at Gatlinburg

Denver and I really wouldn't even think about it. Part of that is because of how much I enjoy snowboarding but I also have really liked Denver the few times I have visited there.

Such vastly different places and very different vibes. If you're a west coast person as you seem to be I would think DEN is the obvious choice all other things equal.

Yet we can't even get new transit built or any new taxes. We can't even improve our current infrastructure.

Everyone is all about flash and half the population drives a luxury car when the medium income is 40-50k a person. People drive Subarus in Denver. You get looked down on as a douche for driving a flashy car there.

No one cares about culture here other than rap and going home and drinking beer. Ask what some one is doing and its usually the same thing ; shopping, tv, generic fest with white booths selling crap, a movie , home. This city is known for a greesy fast food place and a airport to take you AWAY from the city. That's depressing.

Face it, the people here and the politics aren't progressive. People don't care about this city. They come here to get money and move back. People in Denver have a sense of community and that is why the happiness level , vibe, employment rate, quality of life and urban fabric are better there. They love their city. Everyone loves Denver. Atlanta constantly ranks low on quality of life. No one says they love Atlanta except homers on this board and rappers. No one in real life. All that other stuff is nothing to someone with a job.

Where in tarnation do you get this from? People certainly do care about culture. Just look at our cultural institutions. And, yes, people do, in fact, care very much about this city. I don't know where you live, who you hang out with, or what lifestyle you have, but perhaps you should expand the scope of your involvement in the city and you too will see innumerable people working hard to keep Atlanta a terrific place to live.

You need to find a better class of friends and get out and try some of the great eats this city has to offer. The Optimist just named Restaurant of the Year, James Beard award winning chefs (Restaurant Eugene, Bacchanalia, Floataway Café etc.) This is just a few examples.
