I think its great that he will take the bus to work every morning to get a first hand look at what the public see. My biggest grip is the restrooms not being open, and people are now relieving themself on the elevators or the stairs.
Blame Dept of Homeland Security. Restroom must remain locked. There are restrooms at terminal stations and transfer stations: HE Holmes, Bankhead, North Springs, Lindbergh Center, Doraville, Indian Creek, Edgewood/Candler Park, Five Points, and College Park Stations. A MARTA attendant is on duty to open the restrooms from 6am-7pm at all stations, but Five Points, they are opened during operating hours.

One thing I've wondered about is why MARTA doesn't either sell off or take a more vigorous role in developing the land around the stations. MARTA is sitting on a lot of very pricey real estate
North Ave, Midtown, and Arts Center Stations are prime locations for dense, mixed use buildings to be built on the air-rights of those stations, The ground level will be for station entrance and buses, while the 2nd floor can be for retail, etc.

How many buildings are built on top of a MARTA station? The only one I can think of is Resurgens Plaza at Lenox.

ATT Building has a station entrance directly connected to its lobby.

New MARTA CEO vows to use the train and/or bus for commuting to work.
New MARTA boss to ride system every day, probably won't tolerate people blaring music on train | Atlanta News & Opinion Blog | Fresh Loaf | Creative Loafing Atlanta
This is a great idea since he will be able to see the issues affecting the riders.

I wish this man the best of luck... He has an arduous task ahead of him... Wonder if he'll gray as fast as Obama.

Today's story on WSB isn't going to make things easier.

MARTA's top patrolman is paid $348,000 a year, and there are a dozen more right behind him.

MARTA's top bus driver is pulling in a quarter of a million a year and many others are in six figures.

That was the report on this evening's news. The reporter said they'd gotten the records through an Open Records request and had been digging out who was paid what.
