Well, we're starting to do the foundational work on plans to bolster the English Ave/Vine City area. But I need some hard numbers on the crime, poverty, blight, etc. in the area. I can't just say, "It looks bad and its scary at night." Where can I find some facts, figures, and percentages describing the current social and economic condition in this area that illustrates the need to do something about it?

According to this Vine City has less crime than many other neighborhoods. The numbers are a little dated (2009) but I would imagine the statistics have remained fairly consistent.

Of course you can also search on the APD website.

Thanks! What about poverty, employment, drop-out rate, etc.? Any ideas?

If you have zip codes, you can find much of this information out from census data.
