You can immediately eliminate Marietta or Smyrna from your list. They are both in Cobb County and there is nothing to be gained by further complicating the scenario by having the City of "Atlanmyrnietta" spanning three counties!

i think the only areas atlanta should annex currently are west dekalb areas such as toco hills, druid hills, and brookhaven. these places are so much part of atlanta that it's really surprising they aren't in the city limits. sandy springs, maybe in the future. however, i don't see a need for annexing roswell, johns creek, etc., as they're pretty obviously suburbs.

I can't imagine how that could possibly be beneficial to any of those areas. Why would they ever agree to a situation where their services go down, their taxes go up, and the government ignores them?

I also can't imagine that the government in the city of Atlanta would pursue a situation that changes the city back to majority white.

I could potentially see the northwest DeKalb communities joining the City of Atlanta since we have now seen the incorporation of Dunwoody and Brookhaven. If Tucker incorporates, and Decatur, Avondale Estates, Chamblee, and Doraville expand their borders--northwest DeKalb is somewhat ripe for annexation by the City of Atlanta.

It's conceivable, though I have a hard time believing the Atlanta city government would be willing to give a black majority in exchange for annexing new territory.

No Atlanta should work on increasing density and truely being a large city. Think about it. If Atlanta rather annexs then develop their land right now, soon they will have to annex more land as more business move out from atlanta's lack of ideas to keep business in atlanta. If atlanta annexed land it would need to annex more and more land.

Along with Northwest DeKalb, Atlanta could also annex Sandtown and inner Southwest DeKalb.

I'm trying to figure out why Dunwoody would want to annexed by Atlanta? Dunwoody formed a city for self rule. Why would they give that up?

Oh, you know Dunwoody would give anything to be part of the city of Atlanta. Sure, your taxes would go through the roof, your services would decline and the government would ignore you, but think of the prestige!
