Default Car Taxes

Anyone know how long we have to pay our annual car taxes in Cobb? Mine expires October, and I am hoping to be leaving Georgia by end of November, and don't want to give the state a $400 gift if I am leaving anyway. Is there any grace period?

Nope, no grace period. If you get pulled over you WILL get a ticket.

If you don't get pulled over, no problem

FYI, the ticket was around $110 or $115 about 4 years ago when I got one.

thanks, might be worth the risk then. I hate the idea of car taxes, especially given how high sales and income taxes are here in Georgia already, so I'd almost be willing to risk it just for the principle of the thing.

FYI, you can keep getting them. I got another after my first, even though I sent away for the tag and had the stub and copy of my check in my car. Court dropped that one.

Cop was pretty smart ass and said he could follow me down the road and keep pulling me over and giving me tickets for it. Kennsaw Police for you.

I will say I didn't have mine for about 2 months while living downtown, the day I pulled into Cobb they got me.
