Well, we're doing our best to avoid chain restaurants these days. My husband sometimes likes to get a biscuit on his way to work. Are there any local places with a drive thru somewhere in the vicinity of Chamblee or Tucker?

How do you define "chain"...? Not an answer to your question, but I'm just curious, since some chains, like Fogo de Chao, are actually fairly good.

Wow! I am getting old. I was trying to remember the name of Grandma's Biscuits on Buford Hwy just outside the Perimeter. CLOSED in '07...Dang! Those were some good ham biscuits when I worked in Doraville back in '87 .

Guess there's always Chick-fil-A..yes, a chain...but a LOCAL chain!

OR...take a minute and go in to Matthews on Main in Tucker. Problem for me would be wanting to stay until lunch!

I don't think of having more than one location necessarily as a chain. We're trying to keep our money local. It might not be possible with the biscuits, fortunately it's only an occasional thing. The Biscuit Barn sounds good, too far away, but we'll remember if we're out that way.

Donnie's Country Cooking at Clairmont and Buford Highway is terrific. No drive thru but it's easy to park and run in.

I personally prefer that to drive thrus, since I always seem to get caught in line behind some yahoo who doesn't know how to place an order.

Mrs. Winner's was a local chain. Not too many of those left.
