Apparently NGCSU made Kiplinger's 2013 list. UGA and Tech fell. Dat tuition man.

I find it funny that all these presidents happen to retire and their budgets shrink prior to the announcement of a merger.

Good for North Georgia and Dr. Jacobs. It's refreshing to see a female president of a military college.

Some more details about the consolidation of NGC&SU with Gainesville State.

Challenges remain for Georgia

Associate degree programs will be based on the criteria used by Gainesville State while bachelor and graduate degree programs will maintain the standards used by NGCSU.
So it will be like a two-tiered college. Even the cost for admission to the two-year programs will be $1000 a semester cheaper. Not sure how one transitions from two-year to four-year though other than by change of major?

But fitting GHSU and ASU together should be harder as they are at dramatically different academic levels. The same would be the case if say GSU and Atlanta Metropolitan were put together. One is research, the other an access college. GSU shouldn't have an access mission even if it is a small component. I'm hoping the BOR will combine GSU and SPSU as that would give GSU engineering programs like UGA and Ga Southern. And really, any student at SPSU could be admitted to GSU. A good question though is if that is true...the other way around?

Thanks for the news

See, the problem is you're thinking people choose to go to SPSU. They usually don't(grad rates). They want to go to Tech, but they can't get in. So they go to southern or SPSU to transfer.

Btw, UGA would be pissed if they knew you were grouping their engineering school with southern, GSU and SPSU lol. just realized how often you do that. This fall is when UGA will start offering all their engineering degrees(phd and undergrad). Someone who I know that is studying engineering at UGA said that UGA want to keep people in-state and earn research dollars. A lot of people I know go to Auburn, Clemson or a similar school for engineering if they don't get into Tech. Since UGA is good for biological engineering maybe they can capitalize on that.

I just saw Atlanta Metropolitan in real life last week. Please in the name of everything that is holy. Do NOT make us merge with them. God. It's like the bottom 10% of GSU times 10. That would make us even more of an access school. Ghetto and dumb as hell. Give them to GGC or GPC.

Merge us with Tech please.
