While I am not missing the Chicago snow what so ever, I thought it would be fun for the whole family to try the snow tubing at Stone Mountain. It's not cheap...it would be about $150 for a family of 5. Any comments/reviews? Thanks!

I have not been, but a couple that I am friends with took their two kids a couple of weeks back. They said it was great and that everyone had a good time. They said that there was tubing and there was also a flat area where the kids could make snowmen. They didn't mention the price, but they said it was fun and that they would go again. They are from South Carolina and it was one of the activities they did on a weekend family trip.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but has anyone wondered how they are able to make snow when it it 50 degrees during the day? We were there last year, on a very warm day in January, and there was "snow" coming out of the machines... hmmm

Ah, yes, I thought it was understood that the snow was artificial. I think that is part of the fun...you are able to enjoy the tubing and playing, but without the cold...

Its "Real" snow, Cold water + Compressed air you can make snow in the desert. Key is making enough of it so it does not melt faster then you are making it. In the <30F days they make lots so they build up a base, then they just keep making it.

I have heard it was nice but I would never do it because I think it is crazy to pay hundreds of dollars just to play in some fake snow.

I can't afford the prices but find a way to pay the fee to take my family here just to "play in the snow" for ONE DAY! We have to make the best out of everything and that means living in the warm south! If we were to travel back up north for REAL SNOW, then we'd waste "hundreds of dollars!"...We're new residents of Georgia and have never been but heard it was a great day of play!...grab the fam, pack a lunch, put cocoa in thermos' and maybe even a cold SNOWY beer afterwards..
................it's xmas whynot?
