To give perspective, I graduated from a top 10 undergrad, got my MBA from Emory and have 14 years of management experience. It took me 6 months to land a new position after the start-up I was working at downsized. Personally, I wouldn't consider moving to Atlanta without a job unless you have at least 1 year of savings to live off. People are telling you to find a job first because the metro is so spread out you could have a miserable commute if the job you finally land is in a different area than where you live.

Moving to Atlanta without first having a job would not be a good idea. This is not the kind of town where you want to just show up and start looking around. Especially if you are on your own and have children who need full time care. And double especially if you haven't finished school yet.
