but the real question is when are you finally going to move away to a city you do like, rather than continuing to being bigoted towards Atlanta and constantly putting down a city where plenty of other people do find character and love. That is why people are so offended by your opinions and give you little to no credibility. Your opinions are very reactive, confrontational and insulting to how you present them. It is pretty obvious you're a kid in high school or college.

I'm not asking you to change your views, but you sure do have a long way to go to not seeing the world so white and black. The world is much more gray and the more you realize that you can start to see what some people appreciate and realize those things set us apart from other places as well.

I was actually similar to you not, but 10 years ago. I have been very fortunate to have traveled the world and the country dozens times over since. The more I travel the more I appreciate other places, but the more I appreciate home too. I just had to see it from an outside angle to see the cons that exist in different types of cities.

I don't know that Georgia's brand needs a complete makeover, but a freshening up would probably help. When I travel, folks know modern city and history...our bread and butter. That truly is unique. Few places have the mix of deep south roots, historic cities, a beautiful coast, and an internationally known city. We should play up that blend. While Georgia does not mix old and new perfectly, I think we do it better than any other southern state and that is what I like about our state and that is what many others like as well.

Atlanta does have it's own unique identity.
Look wise, Atlanta is has it's own style.

LA= california bungalow
Chicago= 2flats and cottages
New York= Doesn't need explaining.
Philly= rowhouses
Miami= apartments
San Fran= westcoast rowhomes
New Orleans= shotguns homes
Washington d.c.= mt. rushmore
Atlanta= bungalows and trees.

If you come from any other state, Georgia really has a unique look. Atlanta and Savannah are my two favorites.

Also Atlanta is the 7th most visited city in the US, so of course Atlanta has things people want to see.

Whether or not Atlanta has a history is not the point because the world at large sure doesn't think so and thats the problem. The city needs to brand itself better, right now very few people visit here for a city this size, most just change flights at Hartsfield for another destination and see no reason to visit other than for work.

I cringe when I see things like the World of Coke as something that is mean't to impress tourists.

Georgia is expected to have 14 million residents by 2030. What ever brand we have as a state must be working. If it's not broken don't fix it and Georgia's brand is not broken. If you want to make changes to individual cities, that's fine, but the state as a whole is good for decades to come in my opinion.

In fact, the phrase "Peach State" should be retired forever. Not only is it not true, it projects a rural image that's not too flattering IMO.

When it comes to marketing, short and simple always proves most successful. For several years now, the ENTIRETY of Savannah's marketing phraseology has been "SAVANNAH: 1733." And tourism year after year is through the roof!
Because it may have been overlooked by that little juvenile interruption, I'm bumping my earlier comment up.

I am very serious about "Georgia On My Mind" being our most identifiable brand, and one that has endless possibilities. There's absolutely nothing negative about it (unlike "What stays in Vegas .." "Florida: The rules are different here" "The Gulf Coast: PLEASE Come Back, Y'all!"). It works when applied to big cities or scenic wonders, industrial recruiting and economic development.

Anybody else agree we should build on this rather than invent something new?

The brand was so good that both Ray Charles and Field Mob, Ludacris made a son about it.

"Georgia on my mind" is too generic, what does it convey?

There is a state in India which is marketed as "God's Own Country", because of relatively unspoilt nature. That conveys something.

"What happens in Vegas ..." is not a "negative" if you are trying to market sin city
