Thanks for your input. I'm glad you brought those up.
I vaguely remember the GeoNova idea. Well, MAYBE. I'm remembering an idea that I saw in either the newspaper or Creative Loafing talking about a proposed (SOMETHING) that was supposed to be shaped like a LARGE globe that glowed at night and stood in the middle of a man-made water feature. Was that the GeoNova project?
...
Atlanta Center was supposed to be a SUPER TALL tower. Was proposed to be something crazy high, like 2,000 ft tall. And I think it was supposed to be near where SunTrust Plaza stands.
...
Yep. That is what I remember about the GeoNova project.
I remember some kind of super-tall tower proposed for Atlanta--it was a very brief proposal.
(Just replace AT with the @ symbol for his email address.) There's more info in my first post in this thread. Any contact you make on this matter is super helpful. Thanks!
So, it WAS supposed to be a park. And YEAH!!! How come they don't just move the fences further in so we can use the greenspace? Great post
Central Park does a great job of keep the water supply safe, yet looking elegant and allowing room for greenspace.
The westside could use more greenspace.

Nobody seems to recall my proposal for a 200 story tower at Five Points. The first eight underground floors would have included a new MARTA station, high speed commuter rail and Maglev connections, a Megabus depot and a central terminal for the new streetcar network and direct connections to the Beltline. The first ten floors above ground were going to be high end retail (including an Apple store) and a massive complex of restaurants, theaters, galleries and pubs. Levels 8-12 would house a Vegas style casino. The next 50 floors would be devoted to five different international luxury hotels. Above that, 90 stories of high end office space, and the rest would be luxury condos.
If I could have raised the money I would have built the darn thing.

You forgot to add "The World's Busiest Airport"(TM) on the roof.
That's Ant131531 for you. Big talk, but never actually does much to add any substance to a thread . Whatever happened to him moving to his urban paradise

The short answer to most of the items on this list, except for the ones that have already happened are in the process of happening, is simple:
The Great Recession happened. Can't get funding for projects like this if banks are loaning money.
